Facelift in Beverly Hills

Our facelift procedure is perfect for those that have an excess amount of sagging skin and wrinkled tissue due to the effects of sun damage, aging or other factors. Dr. Mashhadian offers a variety of facelift techniques so that he can provide you the precise amount of correction you need – no more, no less. With his experience, expertise, and attention to the artistic detail of every surgical procedure he performs, you can rest assured that Dr. Mashhadian will produce results for you that will be both natural and beautiful.

In addition to his extensive skill, Dr. Mashhadian is committed to creating the best experience for all his patients. He created the Recovery EXL system, a proprietary recovery method that reduces post-operative pain and avoids the need for patients to take narcotic pain medication after their facelift procedures. These medications have a high incidence of side effects like nausea, vomiting and cloudy mental function. They have also been shown to produce dependency in some users, even when they are taken as prescribed. By avoiding these substances during the recovery process, Dr. Mashhadian alleviates many of his patients’ concerns without compromising their comfort after surgery.

WHAT IS A FACELIFT?

Rhytidectomy (more commonly known as a facelift) is a surgical treatment designed to reverse signs of aging on the face. The procedure will remove loose skin and smooth facial creases to subtract years from your appearance.

Facelifts have evolved considerably over the years, and the procedures now focus on natural results rather than the windswept appearance of facelifts past. You will still look like yourself, just a younger and more refreshed version, resulting in increased confidence in your appearance. In addition, the results of today’s facelifts last much longer, giving you years of satisfaction from a single surgical procedure.

Benefits of a Facelift

  • Reverse even severe signs of aging on the face
  • Reduce loose skin that causes sagging and a hollowed appearance
  • Reposition underlying muscle and tissue for a natural, more youthful result
  • Combine with other rejuvenation procedures to enhance results further
  • Advanced systems incorporated to reduce downtime and discomfort
  • Revolutionary topical regimen minimizes visible scarring

BEST FACELIFT CANDIDATES

Men and women alike can experience the benefits of a facelift, and Dr. Mashhadian has the ability to sculpt the facial profile to the patient’s individual specifications. He may recommend a facelift if you have the following concerns:

  • Sagging skin producing a hollow, unhealthy look
  • Shifting of facial fat, tissue, and muscle
  • Loss of definition around the cheekbones and jawline
  • Loose skin around the jawline, resulting in the formation of jowls
  • Creases around the nose, mouth, and chin
  • Desire to look more youthful and refreshed

To ensure a safe and successful outcome to your facelift, it is important to be in good health and understand what surgery can – and cannot – do for you. If you smoke, Dr. Mashhadian will advise you to quit a number of weeks before your procedure. Nicotine can interfere with the anesthesia and the healing process.

A facelift can be performed alone or in conjunction with other procedures, like eyelid surgery or a brow lift, to produce even more noticeable results. Dr. Mashhadian will review your aesthetic concerns and goals to determine which approach will best meet your needs. Non-surgical procedures may also be used to enhance the outcome of your facelift.

OPTIONS IN FACELIFTS

A facelift is not a “one-size-fits-all” operation, which is why Dr. Mashhadian uses a variety of methods to create the optimal procedure tailored to your specific needs.

During your initial consultation, he will assess your concerns, the level of correction you might need, and the results you would like to see from your surgery. Using this information, Dr. Mashhadian will determine which procedure is the best fit, providing you with the most youthful and attractive end result. There are three basic choices in facelift techniques, which address various treatment areas and levels of correction: Traditional, Limited Incision, and Neck Lift.

TRADITIONAL FACELIFT

The traditional facelift incision begins along the hairline at the temples, continues around the front curve of the ear, and ends in the hairline of the lower scalp. This procedure addresses deeper layers of the facial tissue and muscle, which are sculpted, repositioned and lifted. Fat transfer to the face can also be performed with this procedure in order to achieve a more rejuvenated appearance. The traditional facelift is usually recommended for patients that require significant facial correction.

LIMITED-INCISION FACELIFT

The limited-incision facelift is done using shorter incisions in the area of the upper face, as opposed to ending in the hair-line at the lower scalp. This is a good option for patients in need of less correction, but who want the long-lasting results of surgery as opposed to a non-surgical treatment.

NECK LIFT

The neck lift is done to remove loose and sagging skin around the sides of their face and neck, also referred to as jowls. Fat deposits can accumulate under the chin and neck area, causing a ballooning effect. This condition can be remedied using a neck lift, either in conjunction with the facelift procedure or performed separately, offering dramatic results either way. Patients that are self-conscious about the effects of aging on their neck may be good candidates for this surgery.

HOW IS A FACELIFT PERFORMED?

Most of Dr. Mashhadian’s facelifts are performed using general anesthesia, although twilight anesthesia may be appropriate for some limited-incision procedures. Carefully placed incisions are used in order to minimize visible scarring after the procedure. Through these incisions, Dr. Mashhadian will remove excess skin and tissue, while repositioning the underlying skin structure to create a smooth, natural look. Most facelift procedures take between two and three hours to complete.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY LIKE?*

An hour or two after your facelift, you will be released to go home to recover in comfortable, familiar surroundings. There is some bruising and swelling after this procedure, but Dr. Mashhadian will provide you with oral pain medication and instructions on icing and elevation to keep side effects to a minimum. You will also receive instructions on how to care for your incisions to ensure the best possible healing.

Thanks to Dr. Mashhadian’s innovative Recovery EXL system, you will be up and about faster than you might expect. The early mobility encourages healthy blood flow, which speeds the healing process and reduces your risk for blood clots. Most patients can resume their daily schedule within one or two weeks, though the full results of your facelift might not yet be completely evident. However, most of our patients are comfortable going out in public after this timeframe, as makeup can effectively hide residual bruising, and swelling is minimal at this point.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS OF A FACELIFT LAST?*

Once your results are fully apparent, you can expect them to last for many years. Most of our patients enjoy their rejuvenated appearance for anywhere from 5-15 years. Once the signs of aging start to creep back in, additional procedures (both surgical and non-surgical) can be used to maintain your youthful vitality. Dr. Mashhadian will also work with you after your facelift to develop good habits that will help preserve your refreshed appearance for as long as possible.
