Radiesse is an FDA approved filler material. It is different from Juvederm and Restylane in that it is much thicker and comprised of tiny minerals that are found naturally in our bodies and skin. The purpose of these minerals is to help the skin start producing it’s own collagen post injection. Radiesse works by plumping the skin underneath which diminishes fine lines and wrinkles. Radiesse lasts up to a year and in some patients longer, it is not permanent. However, with continued use it will start to be preventative and keep lines and wrinkles from worsening.
How is Radiesse injected?
Dr. Mashhadian has taken the opportunity to be trained in the Cannula method. Rather than using the sharp tip of the needle and tearing tissue fibers and blood vessels which can cause bruising, one small hole is creates with the needle, and then the blunt tip cannula is used to inject the material under the skin. This immensely reduces pain, swelling and bruising and makes for much more quick recovery which means faster results!
